Our Story      Find out what this company is all about.

In a world obsessed with financial sheets, stock points, CEOs, maximizing profits and the bottom line, we are proud to stand out from the pack. We are Baby-Barn, a small-time company with less than 20 employees¹ that focuses on family values and producing high-quality, low-cost products that cater to the needs of the modern family without harming the environment and without risking your baby's health with chemicals and artificial ingredients. Our products can be found at drug stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores all across the nation, all within 6 months of starting up. To learn more about how we did it, and why it matters, read on!

It's a 'Principles' Thing.      Our motivation for starting up.

While there were a handful of fundamental co-creators involved with the rapid start-up of Baby-Barn, at the heart and head of the company lies Julia Schwartz, a 34 year old mother of three. A modern day supermother, Julia is divorced and worked a full-time job while simultaneously building this company from nothing other than good credit and frugal living. Julia's youngest, now 16 months old, was a big part of her inspiration. "I didn't trust these big companies," Julia says. "They put all these chemicals and artificial ingredients in products that we use on our sensitive babies that are still building their immune systems at a critical developmental point in their lives." She couldn't find a single product on supermarket and drug store shelves that she trusted enough to use on Jamie (Julia's infant daughter), and she had resorted to ordering special organic products online. "There are products out there that I trust, products given to us directly by God and Nature. The problem is they're obscure, nobody knows about them, and they don't really work as well as I believed Mother Nature could."

So, the company was started not with big profit ideals and Fortune-500 motivation. It was started rather simply with the idea that mothers should be able to buy trusted, organic products for their newborns that work as well as, or better, than the toxic products they currently use.

 The Vegan Mindset
     Vegan isn't just about food.

This company was founded with vegan principles, and the founders have extended this to their products. The definition of a 'vegan' product simply means that it does not contain animal products (or byproducts), but Baby Barn takes it even further. "Basically, our company aims to never do anything that directly or indirectly harms any sort of animal. This includes the fact that we never, ever do any sort of testing on animals, but it extends to things like reducing our environmental footprint to preserve the planet for all of its inhabitants." A lot of companies that claim to be cruelty-free still use artificial dyes and fragrances, many of which directly pollute the environment and directly cause habitat loss for Nature's critters.

Quality doesn't need to Suffer      The competition's efficacy is put to the test.

The principles and beliefs held by Baby Barn, such as eliminating animal cruelty and only using gentle, non-harmful ingredients on our young children, are their top priority. However, they realize that their product needs to be top-notch if they want to survive as a business. "We know that if a mother tries one of our products and it doesn't get the job done, they'll have no choice but to go back to the mainstream competition," Julia says. "We put so much effort into making our products as good as they could possibly be. Our baby wash will clean and moisturize like nothing you've ever seen. Our baby lotion will make your baby's skin smooth and comfortable, without that greasy chemical residue most babies have to live with. We're a serious company with a serious product. A lot of people think that environmentally friendly products automatically must be worse, otherwise, why would the big guys use chemicals? They don't use chemicals because they're better, they use chemicals because they're cheaper. Most companies just want to save a couple bucks, and they don't care if animals get harmed, babies suffer, and the environment dies in the process."

Getting into the Shelves      From nowhere to everywhere in half a year. The growth of a titan.

In an incredibly short amount of time, Baby Barn has convinced distributors that their products are better and that the consumer won't be able to ignore the difference. Julia is apparently not alone in wanting safer, better products for our infants and toddlers. "The first distribution deal we got, we got it because our baby wipes don't contain chlorine, a chemical many companies use because it's cheap and it does a so-so job of cleaning. It's also the leading cause of diaper rash, and the distribution agent I met with happened to have an infant at home that was constantly getting diaper rash. I gave him a few packs of our baby wipes, along with a few of our other products, and he phoned me a week later and gave us the biggest initial distribution deal of his career."

"We've reached a point of critical mass now, where most people should be able to find our product by checking a couple local stores, across the United States. We'll be entering the Canadian market soon, and we have hopes of going completely international. The company is growing quick, and we have been able to grow without sacrificing a single bit of our priorities and our morals. We can't wait for everyone to see how Baby Barn products work so great and are so consequence-free."

The future looks bright for Baby Barn, and we hope that this short history has gotten you excited about using products that don't harm the environment, animals, or your young babies. To see a list of products currently on sale by Baby Barn, check out the product list!
